Shared Heritage is officially approved under Creative Europe

We are pleased to share that Shared Heritage: Culture and Technology for Intercultural Understanding in Europe has been officially selected for funding under the Creative Europe programme.

This approval marks the beginning of a two-year cooperation between partner organisations in Spain, Austria, and Belgium: Jovesólides, ESICA, and FDI. Together, the consortium will develop a practical and participatory model that connects cultural heritage, youth engagement, and digital innovation. The project is built on a shared belief that culture can be a powerful space for inclusion, dialogue, and social cohesion.

Shared Heritage focuses on cultural connections between Arab-Muslim and European civilizations that are often underrepresented in mainstream narratives. Rather than presenting heritage as static or distant, the project approaches it as a living, shared process shaped by exchange, creativity, and community participation. This perspective will guide all upcoming actions and public outputs.

Over the project cycle, activities will include immersive heritage experiences, intercultural learning workshops, artist residencies, public festivals, communication campaigns, and policy-oriented dissemination. These strands are designed to work together: research and curation feed immersive and educational content; local activities generate shared learning; and dissemination helps scale impact beyond partner locations.

Shared Heritage is especially committed to widening cultural participation and supporting youth voices in cultural spaces. By combining technology with non-formal learning and co-creation, the project aims to make heritage more accessible and meaningful for diverse audiences, including those who have traditionally been underrepresented in public cultural narratives.

In the coming months, we will publish updates on implementation milestones, field activities, and open resources. This is the start of a collaborative journey, and we look forward to sharing its development with communities, institutions, and partners across Europe.
